Could Curry Leave Golden State?

A University of Louisville graduate, Curtis Warfield now serves as the chief financial officer of HCA Managed Care Division in Nashville, TN. Outside his professional life, Curtis Warfield follows the NBA and is a fan of the Golden State Warriors.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry won’t be a free agent until the summer of 2017, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t teams already courting the reigning two-time MVP of the league.

In fact, NBA insider Ric Bucher reports that one championship contender is already poised to begin aggressively pursuing Curry, should chemistry issues arise with Kevin Durant, whom the Warriors acquired via free agency earlier this summer.

With Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green all top-tier talents in their own right, those who would lobby for Curry’s services are banking on the fact that there won’t be enough shots to go around for the four of them, and that Curry may look to make his mark somewhere else once his contract expires--with a team he can call his own again.

Conventional wisdom says that Curry will remain with the team that drafted him--the same club that won a league-record 73 regular season games last year. But conventional wisdom has been known to fail before. And if it does? There will be others vying for Curry’s services.
